The Government of Jalisco confirmed the escape of 23 inmates from the Ixtapa Penitentiary Center in Puerto Vallarta. At a press conference, the Secretary of Security of Jalisco, Juan Pablo Hernández, informed that the events occurred after the incursion of armed criminal groups into the facilities. According to the official, the aggressors fired shots and used a vehicle to ram one of the prison gates, which facilitated the inmates' escape. A Penitentiary Police officer died during the events.
